Wildness and remoteness distinguish Hoyfrom the other islands of Orkney. Straight off the ferry, you soon realise Hoy is different as you drive through the remains of the former Fleet base of Lyness. Most visitors head for Rackwick Bay and walk out to see the Old Man of Hoy. If you are lucky you might some climbers on the sea stack. South Walls is different, fertile, well farmed, home to the Longhope Lifeboat Station and having some very interesting coastal scenery.
