The Glenfinnan Monument, looked after by the National Trust for Scotland, is a marvelous tribute to the Jacobites who died during the 1745 rising. Less than a year before the Battle of Culloden, Prince Charles Edward Stuart raised his father’s Standard at Glenfinnan, raising hopes of the return of a Catholic King. It wasn't to be.
